Classic March Brown Fly

A fly from Horrocks book of 1848. The dark brown March fly or dark brown drake. This famous fly lives only three days as the illustration shows it, then it changes into the large red moth. It is found in large numbers around the end of March on the Wassre, and is greedily eaten by the trout. Their period lasts until the end of May and according to Francis they can be used again with success at the end of August.
